President Trump made some remarks on today’s violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesburg, VA, in which one counter protester was run over and killed. Trump condemned “this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides.”

Many civil rights activists were quick to point out that Trump never directly condemns white supremacy in his statement, a pattern that Trump often follows when forced to speak about a racist attack. Why is this such a consistent occurrence with this president?
Today, the NAACP got to the heart of the matter with a bluntness that said what we were all thinking:
Guess it's hard to disavow bigots and hate when they are amongst your key strategists. #Charlottesville
