Internet trolls emboldened by the Trump administration’s disregard for certain civil rights cheered news of a terrorist setting off a bomb at a Minnesota Mosque over the weekend.
A bomb exploded at the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington, MN on Saturday, and though no one was injured, the mosque sustained severe fire damage and the community is reeling from the attack. Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton called the event an act of terrorism. President Donald Trump has been silent on the matter.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations put out a $10,000 reward for information related to the attack.

Adding to the tragedy, the CAIR Facebook page was inundated with hateful messages celebrating the attack and urging more violence against Muslims and their places of worship. A few are included below:
“Blow them all up! Get this scum out of the country,” a Facebook account under the name Bonnie Louise said.
“Yeah I’m happy I want more,” Jason Miner wrote.
“I wouldn’t investigate this. this is good news,” Barbara Parker wrote.
Jack Smith thought the attack was “awesome.”
According to CAIR, anti-Muslim hate crimes have spiked in recent months, including a 91 percent increase from April-June, compared to the same period last year. Overall, the anti-Muslim activity has spiked since Donald Trump was elected president of the United States, leading some to name the increase in violence directed towards minorities, LGBTQ, Muslims and other groups the Trump Effect.
