President Donald Trump has spent a considerable amount of his time as president on the golf course, but one of his friends and golf partners recently cast doubt on the president’s dubious claims that he is a good enough golfer to play on the PGA tour.
Trump friend and 15-time LPGA winner Suzann Pettersen recently told a Norwegian Newspaper that there’s a reason Trump frequently reports such good scores — though rarely officially — and a handicap of 3. He cheats.
And according to Pettersen, he might cheat at more than just golf.
“He cheats like hell,” Pettersen said. “So I don’t quite know how he is in business. They say that if you cheat at golf, you cheat at business.”
Pettersen and Trump have been friends for more than 10 years and have played golf together quite a few times. Pettersen said she is still fond of the president — despite disagreeing with his policies and what he says at rallies — and the two used to speak on the phone once a month. Since Trump became president, the two have met in person twice.
So when Pettersen doesn’t buy GOP Senator Lindsey Graham’s claim that Trump shot a 73 in “wet, windy conditions” or Taylor Funk’s report that Trump shot 36 on the front nine during a round together, she’s not being malicious.
“He always says he is the world’s best putter,” Pettersen said. “But in all the times I’ve played him, he’s never come close to breaking 80.”
Pettersen said that Trump “must pay his caddies well,” since whenever he hits a ball into the woods, it always ends up “in the middle of the fairway when we get there.”
And of course, Pettersen isn’t the first of Trump’s golf partners — dating back years — to report that Trump is hardly honest about his golf scores, despite otherwise being a decent player.
