Top evangelical leader has a message for Christians who defend Roy Moore

An evangelical pastor who is also the president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention just forcefully condemned the many Christian supporters of child molester Roy Moore.

Russell Moore (no relation to Roy Moore) took to Twitter yesterday to shame the many Christians who are standing by GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, despite revelations that he has made advances on at least five underaged girls, initiating unwanted sexual contact on at least two. In one poll, support for the GOP candidate actually increased increased among 37% of Alabama evangelicals following the revelations.

Pastor Moore has been one of the few more moderate influences of the evangelical movement, speaking out against the Confederate flag and encouraging evangelicals to support the resettlement of Syrian refugees. During the 2016 election, he encouraged his followers to support a conservative third party candidate rather than vote for Donald Trump.
